Gallop Away is located 15km from the Southern Tablelands township of Crookwell. Nicole and her 2 beautiful herd of horses spend their days on 1600 acres of hills and valleys embraced by “The Lost River.” From time to time, we are fortunate to have visiting herd members that arrive on our property to support the Co-facilitation process offered through our Equine Assisted Learning programs.
Nicole (or Nic) is the founder and main practitioner of Gallop Away Equine Assisted Learning. Nicole has a background in Education, having completed a Bachelor of Education and spent the past 20 years teaching primary school age children and working as an Assistant Principal within a Primary School setting. “As a primary school teacher for the past 20 years, I have witnessed and experienced the ever changing and demanding emotional and social needs that continually face our younger generation. The constant struggles and battles that our children are faced with in our ever changing and diverse society, led me to exploring and pursuing my passion of combining education and horses, where individuals (children, adolescents and adults) are able to experience unique experimental learning with horses. I am deeply passionate about providing a unique safe space for individuals to come and experience opportunities to heal, to develop, to grow, to learn and explore what is important to them, while being supported and surrounded by horses and nature.”
Nicole and her herd welcome the opportunity to work with an array of individuals and presenting concerns, from Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, to Social, Emotional or Behavioural concerns or those just looking for opportunities to work on Personal Development. As a mother of 2 daughters, one with an Intellectual Disability, Nicole knows and understands the daily struggles and battles that children with special needs can present. Equine Assisted Learning is an ideal way to support individuals with emotional battles while experimenting and playing in nature.
Nicole is a fully accredited Primary School Teacher, fully accredited and certified Equine Assisted Learning Practitioner through the Equine Psychotherapy Institute and currently enrolled to complete a Diploma of Counselling with the Australian Counselling Association.
